Streetcar Development’s latest project is an expansive redevelopment of a 4.5 acre site between the Don Valley Parkway and Broadview Avenue, currently occupied by a Toyota Dealership and two large Tippet Richardson warehouses. The plans for Riverside Square include 894 condominium units within four buildings of varying heights. The buildings fronting on Queen will be four stories tall, whereas the buildings on the southern side of the site will rise to seven storeys and a 24 storey tower will be located in the rear centre of the site.
Riverside Square’s main feature is a pedestrian focused woonfer street that will offer a mix of large and small retail spaces. Amenities to be included are a grocery store, restaurants, cafes and daycare facility. The site’s complete reconfiguration will see Munro Street extend south of Queen toward a new public plaza within Riverside Square and another street will connect Munro to East Don Roadway.
Streetcar’s intent with their development is to create a connection both visibly and physically. Several bike and pedestrian routes have been proposed, as well as the integration of a green space. The aim to create an accessible and walkable community, transforming Riverside to an even greater community.
